Peeking Inside

If you had an opportunity to peek into someone's life would you? Do you think that you would offer more compassion and less judgment? What if you could walk in someone's shoes just for a day and FEEL what they feel. Feel what they endure. It's far easier for folks to make snap judgments than to find out the facts.

There is always a story that you won't know unless it's told. There are tears behind beautiful eyes, and fears are hidden deep in the brightest of smiles. The hardest of workers may actually be trying to work themselves into a better situation. Sometimes, the homeless person may just be so broken on the inside, they do not see any hope. Would you be willing to be that HOPE they don't see or is it simply more fun for you to criticize and judge?

What if I told you that most women take up martial arts so that we can defend ourselves from the rapist in the past. Not in the present. Or maybe that some folks hoard food because they have been so destitute and never want to be without again? How about the annoying ‘know it all’ at work? Maybe, they know it all as a defense mechanism from being told how STUPID they are by their folks? OR the young girl who is always dressing up sexually and is usually trying to get attention. However, did you know its probably because her father never gave her positive attention? So, in dressing provocative, the attention feels positive from older men. I mean, its attention, right?

Me at 16 in Williamstown Vermont.

Maybe there is a whole story of never-ending sadness in someone's face that you will never understand because you didn't bother too. The judgments that they face because they are too afraid to speak their pain.

Life happens and happens quickly. So does judgment. Maybe, if some folks were to experience other peoples lives, they would judge less and help more. Maybe? If those folks turned off their damn TV and actually participated in their communities, we would have less sad stories to tell. I don't know. Maybe I will be a dreamer of a world that invests in each other rather than in “shit consumerism” and maybe I am the only one.

I am sitting here watching Hurricane Dorian skirt by my state of Florida and wonder why so many folks are greedy. I can not relate to the folks who purchased 14 cases of water to turn around and attempt to sell each case at 36$ per case. I don't understand how anyone would fill up 10-gallon buckets with gasoline to keep their generators going while locking the doors to the children in our community who will be without. Have you ever looked at your neighbors with love and desire to be a positive part of their lives?

I really wish more people would take a breath and then a peek inside others real story. I wish that folks would try on compassion rather then new shoes or a new item that will only end up on the floor, forgotten about in a week or so. I wish that more people would spend time with those who are weak, scared, lonely, sick, and poor. To know these people is to gain a wisdom and a power or understanding that is rare to feel. It's so rare that many of you will never feel it as you will never take the time to feel compassion over judgments.

Do you want to be a dreamer? I don't want to be the only one…….

Until Next Time…….
